Public Meeting Changes
Robert Gordon, Director of Michigan Department of Health and Human Services(MDHHS) by Emergency Order under MCL 333.2253 – Gatherings and Face Mask Order. Michigan law imposes MDHHS duties that are given by MCL 333.2221. MDHHS may exercise authority and promulgate rules to safeguard properly the public health; to prevent the spread of diseases and the existenance of sources of contaminations; and to implement and carry out the powers and duties vested by law in the department. (MCL333.2226(d). This order takes effect immediately and prohibits any non-residential venues indoor gatherings. This Emergency Order takes effect November 18, 2020 and remains in effect through December 8, 2020 and was extended on December 7, 2020 and will remain in place until December 20, 2020.
The meeting platform will allow for two-way communication between the members of the public and the public body, by allowing a electronic meeting while facilitating public participation.
